Becoming a shopaholic

Ever since the pandemic started in early 2020, with the frequent lockdowns, am stuck in my home perpetually 24/7.

Even when going out, I only frequented the shops nearby my house or Bedok Mall.

As I am not a foodie, am not keen to travel distances just to queue up a long while to tapao nice food. A cup of coffee and anything would be sufficient for me.

Due to the lockdowns, have been wfh for a few months.

Whenever I have some free time, I would get an impulse to shop online for space saving or home uses stuff. I find myself buying stuff 2-3x a week.

I bought another slippers from Sketchers when I got the chance to go back office on 1 Oct for that 1 day. Bought a wireless massenger also on that day, mainly because I can't go for massages. Pre-covid, me and my hubby would go Batam for a 2-day-1-night trip and get 2 hours of massages. Gone were those days.

Bought a set of 10 pcs of chopsticks...

at the rate that I am going, I will not be able to reach my financial goal as fast as I want to.

The reason I could think off, is that I have nothing much to do at home. Apart from the usual household chores, I don't really have something that can keep me occupied. So usually I would turn to TV or game (only playing 1 game and get sick of it from time to time).

Tried to read some books but when I am stressed from work, the last thing I want to do is read....couldn't read even though I have borrowed some ebooks...

I hope wef tomorrow, I would spend more time exercising. I would be able to exercise as it is 2 weeks since my 2nd shot of Moderna.

Hopefully it takes away some of the boredom and stresses from work. Wanted to go for my runs, but when I think about the covid situation and my frail hubby, I decided to exercise at home instead, and lose some weight.

The stress from work, the upcoming HIP, my medical condition, is causing me mood swings, and everytime i would turn to online shopping to alleviate/run away. Having the blues thinking of tmr. And have been trying to stop myself from resigning on impulse too. 6 of my colleagues have left since June 21. Whenever I see someone leaving, my impulse would come.

Maybe today I will go take a walk.

f&n

Recently I bought 10 lots of F&N @ 1.49.

Reason for buying, it is below its nav of 2.05. And it has brand names under its belt that are household names.

And I believe if a depression comes, it is one company that will survive.

if I f*cked up at my job

If I screwed up my job, my investments could last me 7 years, without a job. My cpf can sustain my house payments for 11 years.

This is something that gives me peace of mind every night, knowing that my job is not my everything.

New house

I moved to my new place at Bedok, a 4NG high floor flat on 20 June.

I was actually looking forward to moving in, but after the actual move, I immediately regrets it. The tons of boxes (to be exact, 55 boxes) to unpack and re-arrange.

I am two days in, with my hubby, we have unpacked most, leaving 10ish boxes.

Home is looking abit like home.

Just now, when I was getting ready to go buy dinner, one of my dogs (got 2 dogs) peed so much urine in the living room to the kitchen. I lost it, and beat the crap out of it. Had to clean up by hand....

Looks like I just need to be ready, to clean up pee and poo for this week...

Quitting

Recently the idea of quitting crept into my mind, occupying my mind every now and then.

I have even went to look at the job websites to see what kind of job I may want to pursue.

Each time I did this, a lot of negative thoughts would drown me. Why? I looked at the job description, I felt like I did not possess any of the skills that employers are looking for. Data science, computing, etc.

I also know myself, i have tried insurance (1yr), writing (2 yr), call centre (0.5yr) and current job (11yr+). I can't sell myself.

So each time after browsing the jobs, feeling very dejected, I would reflect what is so bad about my current job.

Direct boss is good, colleagues are good. Has upcoming major projects that would need me to do till 2023. Having the ability to work from home. Able to afford my current lifestyle because of my pay. Staff is so so.

Compared to my 11+ years, this year is not the worst. I had worse years in 2015, 2017, 2018 and last year. I was very close to throwing my resignation letter, but I pulled back because I do not want to repeat the mistake I made when I resigned in 2007 amid the financial crisis. Now we are in post pandemic times and a looming depression ahead.

Even if i could find a new job, i may not find the good people, colleagues i have.

One reason I felt like quitting, is the dread I felt towards my work. Nothing excites me and I find myself dragging myself to work. It also affected my personal life as I cant stop thinking or worrying about my work. It is either my job or my sanity.

I will give myself another 2 years, meanyime I will try to learn new skills.

New resale car toyota wish 1.8l

Just changed our car, from camry (left 1 year coe) to toyotq wish 1.8l (5 years, 2 mth).

Sold camry at 27.5k, bought wish at 65k.

Mthly instalment 816 (around 500 less).
Road tax 980 (around 900 less)
Insurance (around 200 more)
Petrol 80 (maybe save half)

Potentially save 8k.

Reason for selling is that the camry is quite ex, and had left only 1 yr. So my hubby wants to sell it off while it hqa value. His friend offered to buy from him at 27.5k. After full settlement, got 13k back. Plonk down another 6k plus for the wish

Bag peace but no vaccuum mop peace
